Fall High School MTB Program

Welcome New Riders!

We wanted to take the opportunity to provide you with some initial preparation for the High School Season. SendTown Bike Club (STBC) provides the structure for all competitive & recreational High School mountain biking for students in Fort Collins, Loveland and the surrounding communities.

This is a great program which helps to develop the athlete via double-goal coaching (life skills & cycling skills). The program works with new riders and experienced riders to enhance skills, ability and experience in a supportive environment. The program is currently capped at 50 riders so if you know you want to participate, please register early. The following checklist is to help guide you.

For more information about the fall racing series and what it entails, you can visit the Colorado High School Cycling League. This site includes details like Race venues and dates. Fort Collins is included in the North Region/Platte Region for reference.

Any additional questions, please reach out to info@sendtown.org

Practice.

Get your bike ready to go.

Make sure you have an operational mountain bike. If you don’t know how to check your bike you can use a local bike shop (discounts available for STBC). Bike check is usually done on the first day of practice but due to COVID-19, this has been suspended for now. You will learn how to be prepared for a ride as you engage more in the program.

Download Team App.

This mobile app is the main source of communication for the season. You will receive further instructions as the groups get set up for the new season. We hope to supplement this with social media and out Hub newsletter.

Team App Web Client:

Plan to attend first practice.

In late July, early August you will be notified of the first practice via email and Team App (generally at the New Belgium Short Track but suspended due to COVID-19). This is an essential event because this is where riders ride and race to determine speed & skill for grouping placement. Please do your very best to attend. Wear a helmet. Bring water!

Get Dialed in with your Group.

Groups will be determined and Coaches will send out initial practices via Team App. Practices are generally on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays. Weekday practices are usually local for approximately two hours. Saturday locations may vary to allow exploration outside of the immediate area. Saturday practice are generally three hours. You are responsible for getting your rider to practice locations.

Get ready for the fun!!!

Race weekends are every other week August-mid/late October. You get to travel to beautiful mountain communities and see the fall colors and see some rad racing. You may want to consider your lodging options. Many riders camp for the first race or two of the season (weather dependent).

Two things parents might want to coordinate:

  1. Pre-race dinner the night before. Usually in the form of a potluck

  2. Lodging/Camping arrangements (KOA in Steamboat)
